Hello, and welcome.

I’ve taught and led programs and schools in South Carolina, Indiana, and now here in Illinois for nearly two decades, and have been a school administrator for over a decade. I started my career as a teacher of music, followed then by working as an academic interventionist supporting students who struggled academically and behaviorally. I then transitioned to become the coordinator of a program that re-engaged students who had dropped out, helping them pursue successful futures. In all of these roles, I tried to learn how to monitor and track student progress best. I pursued a passion to become a school leader to have a more widespread impact, and then realized that many of the ways that I was documenting student learning outcomes over time would not translate to an effective systematic school or district level structure. Much has been written about the importance of being “data driven” and “data wise,” and that work is a great foundation. I strive to build on this research by helping make it practical and tailored to the needs of school leaders. I had to do this myself as a school leader for over a decade, learning what methods of analyzing and tracking data would help me keep tabs on the progress my schools were making towards our goals. I learned so much, and have always tried to fine tune my skills.

In the past few years, I’ve grappled with questions such as “how can the entire landscape of what is possible with assessments, databases, spreadsheets, and all types of information that is at our fingertips be simple, efficient, and useful for all administrators, despite the various types of backgrounds we all have?” and “How will artificial intelligence change and increase how we track and monitor school and student progress towards goals?” So, I am here to help be your thought partner and teammate in learning how to do our best, using the tools at our disposal. As a school leader who has both taught and led schools in grades Kindergarten through 12th, I strive to stay current regarding my knowledge of assessments used, the role of technology and artificial intelligence, as well as the human side of change that is needed to enact the improvements we commit to implementing.
